Apply now for Free Rivers Fund 2018 grants
Free Rivers Fund (FRF) supports initiatives and actions in defense of free flowing rivers. Partnering with the paddlesports industry we provide grants for activist and conservation groups that commit to the fight to protect rivers from dams and development.
In 2017, the three founding organizations Save the Conwy, WET and Balkan Rivers Tour received the first grants provided by Free Rivers Fund.
In autumn 2017 it is time to choose 2018 recipients.
IF YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION IS FIGHTING FOR FREE FLOWING RIVERS, PLEASE APPLY!
Free Rivers Fund aims to support those initiatives that most urgently need funding. No matter if you have been an organization for several years already or if you are just starting out with a bunch of ideas but no results to show, we are looking forward to receiving your application!
Requirements and Application procedure
To apply for a 2018 FRF grant you must have a clear plan or already be in acting to protect rivers in some capacity. The could be action towards undamming rivers (removing existing structures that prevent a natural flow in a river bed, natural transport of sediments and barriers to migrating fish), or engaged in preserving free flowing rivers (fighting against new dams or hydropower projects). You do not need to be a registered non-profit organization. You just need a river, a project and a transparent and honest plan of how the money will be used to help free flowing rivers.
The initiatives will be chosen by our committee and will be announced at the beginning of December 2017. The total amount of funding is not fixed but depends on the total incoming donations.
The organizations awarded the grant will split evenly receiving funds every half a year.
More information about the 2017 initiatives can be found here.
